Hi all,
I just purchased a 1959 Starline little fishing boat for $75 today. It's a fiberglass that's 13 feet long and about 5 feet wide at the widest point. It's has a V-hull at the front and flatten out at the bottom in the middle and end. It also has a 7.5 hp engine. There are two bench for seating.

I never have own a boat before and just have a couple questions.

a. How much would a boat like this weight with no engine.

b. How fast (MPH) would I expect this boat to move along at crusing speed with a 7.5 hp engine.

c. There are two bench seat. can this boat handle three medium built indviduals?

d. The boat is a light blue or sky color. If I were to paint it white would this be a bad idea? I'm just thinking that if there is a scratch the blue would show up again.

I would appreciate your insight. Thanks.

There should be a tag on the transom of the boat that tell you the weight, how many persons it is rated for, and the maximum horsepower it is rated for. Just a guess on the speed with an ok running 7.5 and 2 people-12-15mph. Regardless of what color you paint it, if you scratch it, what's underneath will show. There are lots of older posts on repainting a fiberglass boat.
