1959 Traveller Atlas

I recently bought this boat with the idea of restoring it. I have done some auto painting/body work and looked at some instructions on replacing the floor and painting gel coat. I'm pretty comfortable with that. It has a 35 hp Evinrude of the same vintage. I haven't run it yet, but the compression is good.
I have looked at a little bit of the history of Traveller Boats. Is this boat of the quality, etc. that it is worth putting the time into? Were or are they considered a well made boat, worth restoring?

Is it FG or aluminum ? I have a 58 to 63 aluminum fishing conversion of the runabout model I am restoring.

Mine is fiberglass. After posting this,I saw a past post of a 1964 being restored that looks a lot like mine. I still would like to know how it rates for quality to help determine if it is worth the effort and money. Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't mind seeing yours. I'll try to post a pic of mine.

You'll never make the money back no matter what. Do you like the boat? Will it be something to be proud of when you are done? Doing a restore means you can improve the deficiencies in the original design if you like. I almost went through restoring an old boat I had. I liked the boat and all, but I'd rather use it then work on it...so I just bought a new boat. There are quite a few people that restored there boats here, and they take great pride in their work, as they should..me...I'm too damn lazy.

The choice is yours.

Since I'm relatively new to boats, I'm more concerned with the quality of the boat. When it was new, was it an Impala or a Geo. Some items are throw away. I've restore a VW Bug and was proud of it. A Geo? Why waste the time?
