There are stones on some older models that are actually the fuel filters. Kinda like a pumice stone.

oh no the stone is good, it's inside the fuel bowl under the carb.

Just because the stone is there doesn't mean its good. Try taking out the filter stone, put the glass bowl back, and then try to start the motor. It would only take 5 minutes to test it and it solved my problem on a '54 10HP.

Have you tried switching the plug wires, in all of that putting on new coils and all I have in the past crossed my plug wires...if so it is getting fire to the wrong cylinder.

Would I be able to tell if the stone was clogged by looking at it? It looks fine to me but I guess I don't really know what "fine" should look like! Also, I did have someone else just suggest to me that the plug wires could be switched. I know I didn't mess up the coils cause the coils just sorta plug in, but when I replaced the plugs when I first got the motor maybe I switched them accidentally. Problem is, I just broke the recoil spring so I need to get a new one before I can really test anything else. Do you guys think napa will have the recoil spring I need?

Exactly, so why not remove it and try and start the motor, as Lindy suggested?

Again, there should be a silver crimped label on the top plug wire, and unless you removed the wire itself from the mag plate you should not have revesed it, however, again a simple test, and if they are not reversed, it won't hurt the motor to try and start it.

There should be a notch on the flywheel for a "rip cord". You tie a knot in a rope, wrap it around the flywheel and pull, that way you can still test out the motor and not spend anymore money. As I and several others have said, check out the carb bowl, and float. Two pages of advice and yet you seem to keep ignoreing it. We are all here to help share knowledge, learn and keep these motors running, yet sometimes I get frustrated, from offering advice, and the askers, just plain ignore it.
