I've never seen a plastic housing either for that mtr. That's a new one. But as you said F_R we could both be wrong.

I know pics can lie, but that looks like the old aluminum one.

Ok the housing is alumunium used a flapper wheel and smoothed it out on the inside put it back together but this time put sealer on all the mating surfaces getting good flow out of exhaust port at idle.the water seems rather hot though to the touch is this normal, also could I add an elbow out of radiator or heater hose to be able to see water flow from the driver seat cheers.

These cooling systems are very reliable.----If you install a new impeller then you do not need to rig up anything else.------If you do want to do something then a water pressure gauge in front of you is easier / safer then looking back at the motor.
