I have a 1960 75 HP Johnson outboard, with a magneto style ignition. Model No. V4SL-12. I have not been able to get a spark. I have replaced the points, condenser, spark plugs and mostly recently the ignition coil and still no spark. I purchased a repair manual for additional help when I began the undertaking, and have followed all of the recommended procedures and still no spark. Any advice is appreciated.

Have you checked continuity in the plug wires. I would doubt that all four are bad but you never know with old motors.

You have gotton some excellent advice in your previous posts on this issue. Why not try some of it, rather than reposting. I feel certain that if you had followed the steps that were posted for you, your spark problem would have been fixed.

You have a simple, reliable ignition system, however it will not fix itself.

Sorry about the two posts. This was the original post, but when I updated the information I created a new thread instead of adding on to the original. Sorry for the confusion.

To remove the kill switch: On the side of the distributor is a single connection. There is a point wire and the kill wire. The point wire is the one that goes to the upper part of the dissy. Remove the kill wire, and leave the point wire connected.
