1960 Johnson RDS-22 40HP Tachometer

I have a 1960 Johnson RDS-22 40HP and would like to hook a tach to it for tuning purposes as well as seeing if I should change my prop for more speed.
Any suggestions. I tried a tiny tach, but never did work right. Is there an analogue version out there that will work with this motor?

Haven't been made in years, to my knowledge.

That's interesting that your tiny tach doesn't work right. They are pretty popular. Have you contacted them about it? If they are no good, we need to know before reccommending them to anybody else.
