1960 RSD22 Fuel mixture

I have always mixed at 24:1 since new but was recently looking at the book and found it to be 50:1 so what is it really ? Thaks Scott :rolleyes:

The book is wrong. '64- 40hp engines are rated for 50:1 while -'63 engines are rated 24:1. I'm not sure if your 1960 has the updated needle bearing for the connecting rod small end, and until you're sure your engine has a full complement of roller bearings, I would stick with the recommended 24:1 ratio.

Thanks Paul YOUR THE MAN. You would'nt happen to know the same for a 1972 5hp Sea King would you? Thanks Scott

Use the oil designed for chainsaws and the like, due to the higher operating temperatures.<br /><br />That motor has a Clinton K500 engine on it. I have one as a kicker on my boat (see below).

Hold one....<br /><br />Mine is an air-cooled Clinton-based motor from 1974. Is yours water-cooled? If so, then I don't think it's from 1974.

He's got a '64, fuel mix is 16:1. There's another post over in 'Other Outboards'<br /><br />Good catch anyhow! :)
