My project boat is an early '60's Wizard that looks almost identical to this:

I want to remove the cap but I'm worried about the white (vinyl?) rubrail running around the front that holds the cap to the hull. It's chalky and not very pliable, and I'm not sure that anyone sells anything like it anymore.

Does anyone know of a source for a replacement rail of this type? Any tips on safe removal and installation would be appreciated. I'm thinking maybe a heat gun to help remove it and a soak in hot water for installation, but I would much rather just get a new one of possible.
