Hello,

I recently bought a 1960's (1967?) Chrysler 45hp outboard. To be honest this is my first boat and outboard ever and I am a little lost getting everything hooked up correctly. I have noticed that my throttle and shift cables seem to stick and I am wondering if there is a way to lubricate them or if I am going to need to replace them. I am also having a tough time getting my steering cables to work properly. LOL, I basically need someone to mentor me through the whole process of getting this thing up and working. I know the outboard does run as I had them test it before I brought it home. I just need help getting it to run on my boat. Thanks!!

I would strongly suggest getting a manual for your motor. I really like the Seloc manual for Chrysler. I like it better than the official Chrysler manual. It's easier to read and understand. It has plenty of pictures and tips. There is a section on control cables and wiring harness also.

Hello StarcraftCrazy. I recently took the powerhead off my 1967 45HP chyrsler and it required taking all the linkages off. I took some digital pictures of how to put it back together again. Send me an email at ralgoetz@comcast.net if you want me to send you a few.

Hi, this is jimsmountains. This is my first question/reply/post. I am going to replace shift/throttle cables on my 1967 55hp chrysler outboard. I have the Seloc Chrysler outboard 1962-84 repair manual, and can't find where it shows or explains changing out the cables. I went through the whole index and couldn' find it anywhere. Any help?
