1960s Lone Star total restoration

Ok, here goes. I'm new to the whole boating thing and figured that I would jump in head first. I have a 15' 1960s Lone Star hull with no motor, controls, or anything. I put it into the water and noticed minor leaks at the back of the boat, not at the plug and some running from the bow. Before installing a floor I would like to fix this. It's an aluminum boat. Any other info from motor size to functionality would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

The Lonestar crew will jump in and welcome you, I made that same leap into a restoration a couple years ago, and you sure came to the right spot. Wod and Glass is a Fan of the Lone Star boats, check his thread out on his Flamingo restoration. Mine is a 1960 or very close, only seen one other one like mine here. Show use what you have to work with, pictures will get you lots of replies.

Like I said any help on sealing the few leaks will be great. Im using google to help with the terminology. But my plan is to have a functioning boat as soon as possible as long as I have the funds. The most economical ways would be the best but I would prefer not to have to redo the work because I saved money.

Most of the Tin Boat guys use Products like Gluvit or Coat-It to seal the seams and Rivets on the inside of the boat.

Question... Is it a big job to take this from an outboard to inboard and if its not, what are the best motors to use? Woodonglass, thanks for the direction!

Converting to an I/O would be very costly, and outboards are cheaper to buy tune and run, so I woulld keep an eye out for a good used outboard. Check your ID plate (if it has one) back upper left corrnor of the transom (back of boat). Micht have a rating plate that tells you max hp and weight. That should be an ez restore tin boats are good that way.
When you are looking for your outboard, try to get the controls with it or you will be searching for that too. Some do come with controls.
Have you figured out what year/and type beyond Lone Star?

The title says 1963 lone star medallion. The only reason I was considering the inboard is because I am about to swap an engine in a little rice burner and was thinking that I could rebuild the motor and use it. I havent made it to the transom yet. Other than I can see that its rotted. When I measure the transom to get the width do I measure just the board or the back exterior of the boat?
