1961 45 hp mercury. Not getting any energy out of the rectifier. voltage going in but nothin comin out. I am having a very hard time finding a rectifier for this. can this be upgraded with a newer type rectifier or would a rectifier from a similar motor work? I realize its a stretch but thought it worth asking. The serial numbers come up a 45 hp or 450 and diagrams have confirmed this so far. Year may be wrong but is definatly old. white and chrome cover. top cover is bolted on. dont have serial on me but will bring it home at lunch and update.

Should be able to find a newer type rectifier to fit this.----See a dealer with a grey haired parts man.----25 year old clerks with a computer should be avoided.

well im getting conflicting info from serial number, but wondering if a 18-5707 for a 1970 would work? it is the newer design and replaced most other rectifiers.
I got to check if its a 2 wire or 4 wire stator i guess.

I am posting a update on this. The newer rectifier worked just fine. I used a 18-5707 from sierra. I had to drill a couple holes in the existing plate to mount it proper, being careful not to get shavings in the carb of course. thanks for your help procraftguy!!
