I have the cable and pulley hook up for my motor. I have been all around the motor and on the brackets you spoke about. I cannot find a thing referring to model # or sin. My motor looks just like blk98gt, but it is the Starlite II instead of the III.

I also have a 75hp 1963 starflite with magneto....and a early 60s johnson super sea horse has no magneto must be a battery powered coil like the one guy was explaining

got em both for $200 along with a glaspar 1961 GIII ski boat w/ trailer
both appear very clean and should run, the hoses are dry rotted tho from being in the desert out west here in Vegas

havent started either of mine yet as we have many projects....
super duper interested in the PDF repair manual!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually ordered a parts manual by mistake off ebay $20 mistake oops, havent gotten it yet.

Glad to hear these motors are good engines..

I see you got 90lbs compression, what is a good range for these engines on compression any clue? (I have not checked my compression yet.)

I have a PDF manual by the way if anyone needs one from 1958-1972 evinrude engines. My way to contribute to the forums from the get go.

I sure could use that manual. The 66' Starcraft I picked up to rebuild had a 60'something 75hp SportFour Rude on the back of it and I will need to at some point start work on it. The PO said it had no spark. Plus what everelse I find wrong.

Have you done a compression test ? That come's firsrt. Don't by any part's until you determine what you have there.

You should find your model and serial number tag on the front of the motor, below the cowl, just below where the fuel line attaches. This is from my '58 and I'd guess yours is in the same place.
You're going to like that motor

No, compression test yet on mine. Its sitting in the corner while I work on the hull. I looked up the model number last night and appears to be a 1965.
It appears to be in good shape, but I guess you never know. I hope to find time build a stand for it this winter while the snow flies. Then start tinkering, that why I'm interested in the repair manual offered by the thread orginator blk98gt.

Can person rent a compression tester. How much do they cost?

I just picked up a `61 Evinrude Starflite 75 hp with battery ignition. Its called
Unicharger(fancy name for stater under the flywheel. Its been stored a long time and is a freshwater engine. The compression is 85-85-90-90. It seems in decent shape, and should run, but I don`t have the external wiring harness with the ignition switch, diodes and voltage regulater. Does anyone have on that you would sell?

we should have a starflite club!lol.i got one last fall for free including all the contriols and as a added bonus mine has tilt(hydl).mine is a elect shift model.changed the lower unit oil,new points and after sitting for 10 plus years she fired right up in no time.

Just picked up a 63 model last night $50 missing cowl and controls but from what I can tell it looks to be in excellent shape its electronic shift but I'd love to get a copy of that pdf repair manual if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated email is hennisjason@yahoo.com thanks again
