1961 Evinrude 75hp. I can't get the top off!!!

I just bought the boat and motor. I cannot for the life of me get the top of the motor off to service it. I am attempting to take of the correct part but it is shifted at the bottom and is not seating correctly. I have unlatched the bottomhook and that is not an issue. But, I cannot get the top off. Any suggestions?

It is off!!!!

It looks pretty good. This is my first marine engine. I do know how to work on automotive engines. Any ideas of what I should do as far as maintenance? It has not run in 5 plus years.

EVERYTHING, seriously it's almost 50 years old and has been asleep for five.
