1961 Evinrude Starflite III 75 HP

Hello all,

I acquired a 1960's Hydrodyne 1700 with a Starflite III. I would like change the water pump impeller. How do I remove the shift linkage to drop the lower unit? Thanks in advance!

Look on the side of the exhaust housing.-----Find a cover and remove 2 screws.------Find another cover inside there and remove it.----------REMOVE one screw in the shift rod connecter.

Did as described and the lower unit came right off. Thanks so much!!! No water came out of the drain plug, but it looks like I have some milky gear oil so hopefully a seal kit will fix it.

Get the gear case pressure checked and there will be no guess work.
