1961 johnson qd22 mid section 10 hp

On the lower end of the mid section there are 2 holes. When the motor is running, should there be any water coming out of these holes? Note that these holes are in the area that the drive shaft goes up from the lower unit to connect to the power head.

water on that motor comes out the exhaust. There is no pee hole

Sounds like you are talking about the drain holes for the exhaust housing. If that is the case, there will be water coming out of them.

Hi clam. I have the exact same motor. While there isn't a "pee" hole, as such, there are two small holes on the exhaust leg which water can come out of. It comes out with sort of a trickle on my motor at idle in a test tank. There are vids on youtube of your motor and you can see the water coming out on them too. Some are stronger than others. If you're not getting flow, you can take the lower unit off and clean out the passages. However, as long as you're getting good strong spray mixed with exhaust about the temperature of a hot cup of tea when the lower unit is properly submerged in a test tank or on the open water, then you're ok.
