How do you check to make sure the overheat light on the dash is working properly? Thanks

You will find a wire coming out of one of the cylinder heads. Slide the insulating sleeve back and ground the wire to the head while the key is turned on. Light should come on.

Note that this tests the bulb and wiring only. It does not test the heat switch in the head. Nor is there any assurance the bulb will be good NEXT time it comes on.

Don't wait for the light to come on before replacing the water pump. The light should have an audible cash register "cha-ching".
