1962 CD-19S 5.5 H.P, how do I remove the shifter handle, help!

I have a beautiful condition 1962 Johnson CD-19S 5.5 horsepower, I broke the shift lever on the side of the outboard, how do I remove it from the shaft?

I believe that you'll find that it is part of the shaft. Remove the powerhead to gain access to the retaining screw/nut.
