Hello, I am a new boat owner and have been doing work on the engine (1962 MarkIV 40HP) to get it ready for the upcoming season. I've bought the repair manual and just finished rebuilding the carberator. I am having problems figuring out when one last piece goes. As the flywheel and generator pulley was already removed before I began work on the engine I don't for sure where this linkage (it seems) is positioned. I'll try to post a picture of the part in question. Can anyone help me? I have looked through the book and have not been able to see it in any diagram (maybe I'm looking in the wrong place) Any help would be appreciated.
Neil

The part you show screws into the recoil starter that mounts over the flywheel. It keeps you from starting the engine (with the recoil)above a gentle idle.

DHP
