Hi
Can anyone tell me the correct fuel mix ratio for the sportwin 10 hp-10024
Also it has J4J champion plugs in it from what I have read these plugs have been replaced with J4C Is this right if so would the gap be 030". Your replies are much appreciated as I'm going to take it out for the first time soon. Any other tips would be great also.

Thanks this is a great forum:

Mix is 24:1. Correct on the plugs. If you care, and want to monkey with them, you can file the end of the side electrode so it only extends half way across the center electrode. That will make them a "J" plug.

Re: 1962 evinrude sportwin

hello F R, Hoogie here

I aquired a 1962 sportwin 10 hp (excellent condition) and it seems to be losing power at high speed. Runs real strong at first and at highest rpm it seems to slip. The guy I bought it from had mentioned to me that it might be the "Shift Dog" which is supposed to be an easy fix. When I took it to the mechanic he claimed that he ran it in the tank for 1/2 hour and it ran with no problem.

How easy and/or costly is it to have this fixed? Have you ever heard of this problem.

The mechanic told me it is a 50:1 mix is that correct?

thanks for any feedback

Hoogie
