i just bought this motor today. the old guy that took it off his boat didnt lable any of the wires that go under the dash i figured out what wires go to start the motor but i really dont know where all the other wires go.. spedo, rpms, start light, temp light, ?????? pretty much wondering if anyone has the same motor that can peek under there dash and tell me what colors go where or if anyone has a book that can look it up for me..... i know alot of people will tell me to by a book and that it will help me out alot but money is really short right now and really cant afford a book tho i would really like to have one tho please help out a boater to get my boat up to code thanks

The wiring on that motor is real simple. You can trace the wires out.

The wires that run up under the flywheel is the magneto killer wire. They are connected together when the ign switch is off, to stop the motor.
The sensor on the head runs the hot light. Wire the other side of the hot light to +12VDC.

Speedo gets Ign Sw Acc power for lights.

You need a special tach for that magneto ign. The normal aftermarket Tachs won't work.

If you have a generator, there will be a wire from the voltage regulator for the ammeter. I recommend you connect it directly to the battery, and skip the ammeter. Install a voltmeter is you like.

Those motors usually had hot water or hot air activated chokes, so no wires for them.

You still need wires for +12VDC, ground and starter solenoid.

If the motor is mechanical shift, no wires for that either.
