1962 Johnson 10 HP sputters and stalls

I have a 1962 Johnson 10 HP model number QD-23a that when started sputters really bad. It runs very hard and unsmooth. I replaced coils condensers and points and also new spark plugs. Also a carb rebuild. Any suggestion.<br /><br /> Thanks, Mike

have you checked compression. also when you rebuilt carbs did you soak them over night, or just use spray? did you blow it out with compressed air? i have a '55 15hp rude that runs beautifully.

Check, and see if the plugs' show any sign of water ingestion.
