I just installed and ran my recently purchased motor...runs like a top. Anyways....I noticed that my AMP meter showed no sign that the DC generator was charging my battery. I know the motor needs to be above 2000 rpm..I tried running with the lights on and the electronics on also. Still no sign of a discharge. My question is this...when I bought the motor I also purchased a Junction box and regulator which was a used system. Should I polarize the regulator even thou it is used?? Any harm to do so anyways? I read my factory shop manuals but did not have anything on the generator system other than a wiring diagram. Is there a way to test the generator? Could it be a bad voltage reg? I ran all day with no problems. The motor is an electric shift model so I am not sure if the battery will last all day with no charging system.

Any help or thoughts are greatly appreciated

PS...I did check the gauge...when the motor starts it shows a discharge.
