Re: 1962 Mercury 700 prop?

sorry for repeating question. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is what is a modern alternative to the 2 blade. I most likely will be going with a 17 pitch, but would like any input on getting a new prop.

A good 2 blade could be the fastest,Not likely to find one.A 3 blade better overall performance.
We need to know what boat with dry weight if possible.
My feeling is a 17 is extreme for a really light boat.

Check the size on the present prop.Usually on the barrel near the base of the blades.
If you do some test runs with the present prop and get us the prop size, and your max rpm and speed we can help with a selection. If you read the stickies at the top of the page and the helps at the prop store page it will help you understand prop selection better. We'll be glad to continue to help understand better. You need to know rpm and speed even after selecting a prop.A Tinytach is Reasonable and easy to install.A gps is excellent for speed. The guys at Johns Old Mercury Web Site should be able to help with the old timer. In 58 Merc set a record for outboards with an early stock version of that motor powerhead.
