Can anybody advise me where I can find the parts needed to replace the missing remote shift linkage on this Johnson 1963 18 hp electric-start motor. It has just forward and neutral gear positions. My motor is missing the manual shift arm (maybe not needed for the remote shift linkage and that is why it is missing) as well as the connections that attach to the motor and to which the control cable goes to the control box at the front of the boat

the remote shift cable connects to the shift lever, so you will need that. I think any remote throttle/shift kit from OMC up 1999 or so will work. go to shop.evinrude.com and click on the parts tab. Search in Accessories/miscellaneous for the kits. usually for <30 hp

I would try any of these places too. They can get you a new shift lever and the control box that you'll need. An older shift box assembly that matches your old motor, will probably be cheaper than one that is newer.
