This is my first boat. It ran fine at the begining of the summer. The motor revs up and idles great, but when I go with the throttle there is no speed but at about 5-10hp. I do not claim to no that much about boats at all, but it is very exciting to learn. I have changed out both of the spark plugs, the fuel line and tank. I cleaned the carb very good, and the fuel filter. Since the motor is a 63 I would like to learn how to do repairs. Anybody with some help would be greatly appreciated. I need some sort of an idea of where to start.

Welcome to iboats, TP.<br />Check the shear pin in the prop and the rubber hub in the prop, if the RPMs sound normal.

Get a manual of some sort. If you can't find one from the manufacturer, use a Clymer's , which are generally available. Locally, our public library has them and many auto parts and marine supply places carry them. You've got the right idea about owning a boat. LEARN LEARN LEARN. Regards.
