Actually i may be wrong. I just found this image:

You may be able to get away without the link bar!!! Sorry about that. I retrofitted an older motor to single cable steering but it was a '73 motor and had a tilt tube.

nope wont help me cause i cannot attach a tilt tube to my motor no holes in the motor for that, but i am going to see another sterring outfit tonight and this person as all kind of bracket to connect motors and hopefully we can do something. If not i am not spending 500$ for a steering wheel outfitter for this boat so i will put the axe in it this weekend if i dont get it fix. And i will get a new boat.

There is no tilt tube on the motor in the picture in my last post. The connector looks exactly like the one you have. Same steering rod also. You just need the clamp block. http://www.iboats.com/Corrosion-Res...ard-Engines-Teleflex-Marine/dm/view_id.192758

If i look at the link for the 1966 16' Starcraft Jupiter 85HP Johnson well me i cannot hook it up trought the motor like that cause there is no hole to put the tube in it.

exactly like that, that is what i need , but tought of it another way today if i would have the link bar plus making my own a tube braket wioth already threads on it at one end and bolt it to the transom and screw the cable at one end and the cylinder coming out at the other end and attach to this link bar i think that could be done too cause it is not free that lnk bar or that bracket you got in that picture they worth 150$ each well almost.

Well the steering link bars can at least be found cheaper on ebay http://shop.ebay.com/Boat-Parts-/26...lstpos=17347&_sc=1&_sop=15&_stpos=17347&gbr=1 but I didn't find any cheaper clamp blocks.

Yeah you are right , but can you picture what i mention about the tubbingattach to the transom similar to your bracket .

Ok now i got everything set up with the steering link bar , how do you adjust that bar i try every combination with no success . Can anyone help me i am leave for a fishing trip this weekend and want to use my boat .

well be sure to have the coast guard, game wardens, whoever patrols that area dialed into your cell phone and keep it water proof. Leave a float plan adn someone aware of when you are expected home. Don't take any children with you.

I actually made my own "clamp block" out of old bed rails when I put the 1962 28 horse on my SeaNymph.

Has worked fine for 4 years and cost was about 4 bucks.

Well you know what that is what i did i took the wheel off and keep the wheel assembly and did it it turns fine in the backyard but will try it Friday on the river and if everything ok i will post pictures of it .

Cant really see how you got it connected to the bail. If you dont have the drag link you may bind while turning.

Hope you didnt get your steering cable too hot.
