Ok, let me start by saying this motor really has not been run for about 6-7 yrs. because I knew it needed a water pump and then the control also crapped out. So I rebuilt the control last week and got the motor running... sorta. This motor has a tilt lock that hooks over the pin. I am sure or I thought when you put the motor in (N) the hook lock moved up allowing you to tilt the motor up. Now when it is in (R) & (n) it locks and unlocks when in (F). Any Suggestions?

On my 1961 800, its locked in N and R, and free in forward, in case you hit something, allowing the motor to "pop" out of the water, maybe saving the bottom end. Its a bit of a pain, putting it in forward before tilting it up.

Its working properly, locks in neutral so you can pull start without the engine tilting up, locks in reverse so you can back up without tilting up. Un locked in forward so that if you hit something it can tilt up.

Thanks guys I checked with my boat shop they said the same. Looks like everything is ok there. Now just have to rebuild the carb.
