I have the box but it's so old all the wires are rotted. Is this box needed to run the motor? or can it be bypassed?

The box itself is not needed.-------The components could all be installed on the motor with custom wiring.

That may be true, but "custom wiring" would be big words if it is the electric shift model. The junction box for those is quite complex. That's why we need the model number.

50931 is a 1962 with Selectric Shift and Unicharger. Junction box is similar to the one I posted earlier. Time to sit back and take stock of exactly what you have to work with. Do you have the remote control? This could get expensive.

I was given this motor with a boat that needs to be restored but without a motor it's not worth it to me to start the boat restore. And dont want to buy a new or used motor want to work with what I got bc the motor runs great when jump started.

In the box I have is just missing the voltage regulator witch I can get one of those. but for the wires their so bad they crumble when you bend them I guess I need to sit down and rewire the whole loom.

You may already know this, but the voltage regulator is same as Delco-Remy 9000561, for 1962 Chevy trucks.
