Did you read the sticky at the top of the page? Free wiring diagrams. You can simply use the electric shift model and ignore the shift wires.

Voltage regulator is part number 377001, replaced by 381538. From your Evinrude dealer, about 100 bucks. No, you can't use an automotive one because the current regulator is set too high, which will burn out the generator armature.

It has to be a marine one. Automotive solenoids have the two small studs which are hot and on the marine solenoid, the small stud on the starter side is a ground stud. They look the same, but they're not the same. Whatever you do, don't use an automotive type key switch either, because then you'll risk nukin' out your coils.

A bit of explanation: If you use a car solenoid, it will instantly destroy the starter safety switch.
