I am thinking of buying a vintage 1963 boat with an 75 hp Evinrude with selectric shift? I have been getting horror stories about this shifter and motor. Junk, can't fix them, etc.. Is this true? Where can you fix them or if? Parts? Replacements? etc. Hope some of you are old enough to have experience and knowledge on this old motor and shift mechanism. Thanks Jeff

Use the search funtion here at this forum looking for words like electric shift selectric or whatever applies, you will find some good reading. There OK as far as old stuff goes. They can be repaired. (mostly done by the owners around here) Parts are still available.

Make sure you maintain the correct lube in the lower unit.

Order up a manual. They are available from the link below.
