Where do I start?! My 1963 evinrude 75 hp 4 cylinder model #75383 just doesn't want to run worth a &*%#$. It will start. Sometimes it idles good, sometimes not. The motor never runs good after about 10 minutes. I have recently rebuilt the carb, hoping that would solve my problem, but it didn't. Now for a bit about the motor. Over the years the mechanical fuel pump has been replaced by an electric pump. I can't find any specs. on fuel pressure requirements for that motor. I have disconnected the pump outlet hose and observed a good pulsing of fuel from the pump. I am nearly certain that I serviced the carb correctly because the problems that I am having now are the same as before the carb. rebuild. Also, the resistor wire is gone, but an automotive type coil and resistor is now used. I have replaced the points, condensor, dist. cap, rotor, plug wires and coil wire. The automotive type coil and resistor are both new. I don't know what else to do. I just want to cruise out on the lake.
