lindy46 Okay that makes sense. Are the two bolts underneath the roller cam the ones I need to loosen to adjust its position? It looks like they just hold it to the mag plate so I'm wondering how I can adjust its position anyway. Also, should I be doing all this while it is in forward Drive? Because in the video I have it in neutral. I can try taking another video too if you need a better angle! This dang throttle has always bothered me with how stiff it is haha.. makes me think something's off but it probably isn't.
Yes, underneath. The one on the starboard side (left) is not adjustable and just locks the cam down. The one on the right is adjustable. Loosen (don't remove) both bolts, and the right side of the cam can be moved in and out to adjust the follower roller to open at the right time. You can make the adjustment in either neutral or forward, but the throttle won't fully advance in neutral. But the adjustment of the roller to the mark on the cam occurs well before full throttle, so it doesn't matter. Once the adjustment is made, tighten the two cam bolts and you are done. If the throttle handle is stiff and difficult to turn, it will have to be taken apart, cleaned of old grease and corrosion, re-greased, and re-assembled.
