hello all,
i have a problem...i installed my new water pump that I found at my local napa stores...it matched exactly. now when I start my motor, the exhaust spits water....kind of like when you have water in a compressed air system or something. When my motor is in the water well above the water pump level but not up to my exhaust level, i get a lot of disturbance in the water when the boat is idling in neutral..almost like bubbles. I know that the prop is not causing this because when I put it in gear it changes and water rushes like it should...Here is my thought: Could water be bypassing the engine all together(all but the small amount being spitted) and blowing back out of the hole in the foot. The reason that I am wondering this is because when I replaced the pump I noticed that the previous owner had a rubber contraption glued to the end of the feeder tube that goes to the top of the engine...when I pulled the tube out, it fell out and I figured it was not enough seeping through to cause a problem so I did not replace it... could this be my problem...thanks you guys have been a big help.
wclark
