I was given a fairly clean looking Scott McCulloch motor the other day which was froze up. It appears to have just froze from sitting. I pulled the head and to my surprise it looks like new, no wear and no signs of corrosion. I tapped on the piston ever so lightly after soaking it with pentrating oil and it seems fine and has good compression. My question is what do these use for a water pump? Is it available anywhere yet? The same for a carb kit and I suppose points?

Cosmetically its a near perfect as any motor I've seen from this era. It has 117psi compression and there's no sign of scoring or any damage in the cylinder. The piston was stuck all the way down in the bore, it only took a light tap to free it up. I soaked it really well anyhow with oil just in case while I search parts.
I also suppose a head gasket would be in order too since I had to pull the head but for now I reused it.

The link is working now, maybe they were down for maintenance.
I only see carb kits, but that's a start.
I am assuming these use a rubber impeller much like any other outboard?

If its a straight drive it uses a rubber rotor some call it a wobble pump.A circle with a square lump on the edge a cam in the middle wobbles the rotor.
Those with a gear shift use an impeller.

No gears on this one.
I'm still trying to tell what motor I have, it's marked 3hp, says Scotty on the side in red but has the Scott-McCulloch logo on it.
By process of elimination I am guessing it's a 3.6hp from the early 60's, most likely 63 going by that link and my serial number. Also going by that site, its a McCulloch and not a Scott-McCulloch, but it still says Scott McCulloch on a small round logo on top.

It looks all original, the color is sort of an off white, with red decals with some metallic trim here and there. It has a recoil start, with a round pull knob, and a plan flat steel tiller arm.

I'll have to get it if I can find it tomorrow. Do you know where it should be?
