1964 18HP fuel filter site bowl

should the site glass in the fuel filter be filled to the top or only 1/2 way I have a brand new fuel pump, and fuel lines, also I used a vacumm tester on the lines from the gas tank right to the fuel pump its self and no leaks, so why is the site bowl only 1/2 filled. Thanks Bob

I believe the word is capillary action. Also, it is such a good filter that air won't pass through it, but gas will. Never mind trying to explain it, just believe that they NEVER fill up with gas. It is normal, so just run it and enjoy it and don't worry about it.

I have always wondered why they aren't full either, but it works fine so I dont care!

Yea I went through the whole system trying to find a leak using a vacumm tester and could not find a leak holding vacomm with out any drop so I guess that is the way it is Thanks For all your help Bob
