Look down the hole with a flashlight..you’ll see that the pinion gear hole is not lined up. Then take a thin screwdriver and try to center pinion and try again..and again.. it will eventually slide in, but can be frustrating
Yup tried all of that... guess I’m just getting unlucky getting it lined up. Just wanted to make sure there wasn’t a clip or something holding me back. thanks kbait yeah my arm hurts and I’ve held it every which way. Frustrating is an understatement.
My wild guess is you are pushing on the drive shaft too much as you try to "find" the pinion. Easy does it. The pinion has to fall into place to where the shaft will slip in without pushing the pinion out of place.
If you shine a light down the case and you move the case around, you should see the hole in the pinion shift positions. If it doesn't, something is binding. If it does, when the hole is centered, hold the case in that position and slide the driveshaft in.
Success! Yeah just took some finagling.
what worked was to stick the prop shaft and gear in without the carrier and use that to wiggle the pinion gear. Slide right in...
Cannot imagine why you were offended by anything anyone responded with, but that is just me.
When I post in here looking for help I am just grateful to the folks who take time out of their day to try and assist me.
Helping is simply saying what to do. He leaves a smart *** response EVERY time I post a question. There’s a difference. I don’t want help if I’m being made feel stupid. FR usually responds as well And he is always respectful and helpful. As well as everyone else who responds. It’s just this one dude who can’t keep out the extra rhetoric.
