1964 40hp Seahorse pee stream

Ok, I have been told different things. So here it is. Should I see a steady stream of water coming out of the back of the shaft just below the power head? I believe it is the exhaust releif port. I have been told these old motors should just be spitting and I have also been told they should have a steady stream.

Well, that motor does have a thermostat in it, so it wouldn't be a large stream, like your older '57's would have.
