What you have is a GEM. The tumblehome at the stern is reminiscent of the old California SK hulls. I'm with all the others. Definitely restore it! Tremendous Sunday ride. And judging by the response on this forum, if you were to put it up for auction you would be sure to get its full worth.

I'd toss a new cap & rotor on it and file the points right away, if it's been sitting for a long time you may just have a little oxidation under the cap causing your idle problem.

If it's got a good working bilge pump, by all means take it out for a cruise. If not, you may want to put some water on the inside and make sure you don't have a sieve on your hands before launching.

I have this exact same boat. 1957 with a 350 corvette engine in it. My fathers freind brought it back from california in 60 and sold it to him. We still have it and its a classic. It was the fastest and loudest boat on our lake for years and years..

It still runs great but needs the hull repaired. Its hard to find someone that can work with fiberglass and wood.

We live on a small lake and its great on the waves. It will do 45 - 55 mph no problem.

Definatly restore it. It turns heads. I will try and dig out some pictures or take some new ones so you can see what it looks like finished.
