heres what is new i let it soak in omc engine tuner overnight rechecked compression raised about 10lb 60 before now 70 shot some oil in the cyls raised compression to 105 what should i do now maybe rings or leave it alone

Well, the rise in compression after you put oil in the cylinders does indicate worn rings. Still, you could still have some stuck rings in there. That might explain the increase after the engine tuner soak.<br /><br />I'd get this thing running and give it a couple of hours at WOT on the lake and check compression again before deciding to give it a ring job.

By the way, if you haven't already done so, get those Champion J4C plugs and put them in that engine. It's a must-do thing. The Autolites have gotta go.

just got the j6c plugs also bought some sea foam going to soak again then run 1 pint in 6gal of gas and oil mix on the water guess that will be ok

Cluke...make that 1 QUART in six gallons of fuel for the oil. If you're talking about the sea foam, then 1 pint would be fine. J6C plugs are OK, too. That's what I run in my 35.

if i do need to do a rering do i have to do a complete teardown or is there a short cut

There's no shortcut. It's not a terribly difficult job, but you'll want to check that scratch you mentioned. It's possible that you need a rebore, not just a re-ring.
