Jcast..... The 1964 40hp driveshaft that you need, what is your motor considered, 15", 20" length shaft?? Do you know the part number of your driveshaft? The number is usually imprinted about halfway between the water pump key and the top splines. ReevesJ32@aol.com

Try:
www.twincityoutboards.com
www.americanoutboard.com
These are only a few. Many OMC dealers have a small pile somewhere in their shop.
If your marina has a place where they "retire" old engines, chances are you will find a few. Just take your old one along so you have something to compare to beyond numbers.
Good luck.

Joe, no number stamped on this drive shaft. Shaft measures about 27.5 in including splines. Tope spline snapped off for previous owner.Shaft looks to have machined itself perfectly from top spline. I've recovered top spline out of engine. Had to replace dog clutch. Thanks
