1964 Evinrude Fisherman 5.5 weaknesses?

I just accquired an Evinrude 5.5 hp Fisherman. It is a 1964. It runs very nicely but takes on water in the lower unit that I mention in an earlier post. Is there any other weaknesses in these motors that I need to be aware of?
