1964 evinrude impeller

Can anybody help?<br />I have a Rude Starflite 1964 90 s.<br />I have had the engine running in water bath but cant see where the water is meant to come out, it has a thermostat so could this stop it coming out until temp reached? Is it likely to be the impeller? ifso where can i get one for this year engine? The engine got hot enough you couldnt touch it for very long. Any advice/help/info would be very appreciated, Thanks

Yes it has a themostat in the rear its down low at the bottom of the powerhead is has a plastic cap with 6 slotted screws hold it on but it sounds ,like a imp.

If you could find a Sierra distributor ,they could help you with the impeller<br /><br />Here is one Keypart<br /> Then ask for 18-3005 , 60/75/80/90hp 1964-68 .
