1964 Evinrude Sportwin 9.5 HP, multiple Problems

I have a 64 evinrude sportwin 9.5 The model number is 9422R. When i got the motor, it was frozen up, but i got the fly wheel to turn and the motor will move now. So my first problem, is theres a crack in the lower unit, right below where the skeg attaches to the housing. It is a small crack, and was wondering if I could fix it with marine tex or JB weld.

Second question, is the recoil starter on this thing is really weird. never seen anything like it. Is it possible to install a electric starter on this thing?

It froze. You can TRY to repair that way. However, if the case was distorted, the repair will not hold.

Do you know where I can get a carb. kit? Also, what other years are interchangeable with this year/model?

Carb kit from your local Evinrude dealer, Or www.marineengine.com Part number 382048

I've never seen, nor heard of an electric starter for a 9.5. 9.9, yes, 9.5, no. What's so wierd about the recoil? They made many thousands of them. All in what you are used to, I reckon.
