Hello-

I am setting up my 1964 johnson FD-18E 18hp with electric start. All I need now is the choke solenoid. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a reasonable priced solenoid with plunger? The prices Ebay and other places are charging seems ridiculous! I can reach back and pull out my hand choke knob rather than spend over $100 on this small little solenoid. Part number is 385554. Also, are there any other OMC solenoids that would work, rather than the specific 385554? Thanks for the help in advance!

I am curious about this myself - one would think there would be an inter-changeable part or some other alternative at a better price.

Yah their high priced!! Have you checked BPR,boats net you'll really be shocked!! ebay should be cheapest.I have one I was just going to omit and use the manual choke for the same reason, Mine is a tiller so so I am right there anyway.
Go here enter the part number and it will cross reference parts. Not this one though.
