I recently posted a thread about what year and horse power for this motor got some great info Thanks but here is my problem it starts but has no power to move along just boggs out, choke it a little and it revs up and you can at least get to shore but runs like crap, with the choke off it idles not bad but misses sometimes, give it some fuel and it boggs out and then stalls put the choke on you can put it into gear it stays running but very poorly

first checked compression both cylinders 120psi
got great spark from coils
replaced spark plugs gaped at .28
checked all hoses looks good
water pump works
cleaned carb
all gaskets on motor good
fuel pump diaphragm looks very worn in
still had same problem so bought a carb kit and a new fuel pump kit just waiting for them to arrive can anybody think of something else besides pump and carb

Do your carb kit and to me it sounds like an air leak in your hoses or connector. Maybe buy a new hose and check your fuel connectors.

Have you looked at the coils? Or are you just looking at the spark? Don't be deceived.

i will check all hoses again as for the coils i checked with light and i presumed they were ok because the light was very bright. how do i check if coils are pushing out enough also do i have points and condensor it looks like a cdi box instead when i looked in catalog coils look different i will have to get part number and match
