1964 Yacht twin 3hp no spark need help

just got this nice little motor but it has no spark parts dealer lady from fla said flywheel could be like on lawn mower engines magnets inside rusty been sitting about 10 yrshttp://forums.iboats.com/images/icons/icon5.gif

O concur - flywheels/magnets seldom go bad. Just needs new electricals.

Coils, points, and condensers are available right here at iboats. No problem.

You need a flywheel puller to get it off, and a torque wrench to tighten the nut to 35 ft lbs when you put it back on. Shaft and flywheel tapers must be clean and dry.

Nice suggestion F_R. Flywheel puller is very hard to get. At the same time we need torque wrench to tighten. We have to see whether it's wet or not.

A harmonic balancer puller, which is what is used to pull the flywheel, is available at any auto parts store. 1/4-20 grade 8 bolts screw into the flywheel.

Coil on my 3 hp Viking, no spark, sat over 25 years not running. Believe it or not it's the only part I replaced to get it running, still firing on the 25 yr old plug (which I will change out of course)

Don't know where i'll find a block of lead these days :D
