Recently my grandfather passed away. With his passing he left me his boat. A 1965 17' MFG Edinboro. He bought it brand new in 1965. It has a 1975 70hp Johnson, and a 1974 9.9hp Johnson(his emergency motor). I was looking to replace a few things on it such as the "glove box" which is missing a lid and potentially the windshield. The windshield is the molded plexiglass. This boat was his life when he and my grandmother got married in 1950 he made her sign a piece of paper that said that she would never for any reason interfere with his fishing. He carried this paper in his wallet till the day he died. He loved fishing and this boat. And I'd like to do him proud by fixing it up and making it into the monument to him that I think of it as. So if anyone could help me out with any information on how to find either of the these things (if you can even still get them) I'd be very appreciative. Also if anyone is from RI do you know of anyone that's good at re-upholstering seats. The ones in the boat are original and will need to be done again very soon. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Sorry about the passing of your Grandfather . Welcome to our forum , we'll be happy to help . Most of the windshields were from Taylor Made . Most likely they still are availible from them - altho expensive . I'll check with a guy I chatted with - runs the Nickelcityclassics website --he bought a pile of windshields from a defunked business .
Nice to see another local MFG . Looks well loved , hope you have lots of fond memories of fishing w/papa . Where are your favorite fishing spots - looks like you got a big livewell for saltwater fishing . Keep in touch ! peter

hey man i just got a mfg boat and i am unsure of the year. i would like to know if there is a place were the serial number is and i just saw yours and i didnt know that this boat could be antique lol. i want to know if these boats are getting rare and what year did they start making them and what year did they stop making them. i could post up pictures of my boat to show you. i am planning on doing a job onto it. i am putting a new deck into it and i was wondering if those blue seats are original because i got those same blue seats and up front i got that same light asweel and i wanted to know if thye came on the boat when it was new. if you could answer some of my questions that would be great.

Welcome aboard Evan,

There are many knowledgeable people here willing to help you out. You might get a better response from the guys if you post your questions in a separate thread here on the MFG forum The thread you posted in is kinda old, and many might just not see it.

Once again, Welcome to the MFG forums :)

ALWAYS keep it covered and dry out of the UV, or inside protected from weather and sun.

Windshield can be buffed out to nice-and-clear. NEVER use windex or any other ammonia product on it. ALWAYS suds it up and rinse well with a car wash brush not a rag to protect it from micro-scratches.

And I think that barrel is a BAIT well for salt water or briney water fishing, not for caught fish.??
