High speed jet was removed cleaned and entire carb cleaned twice. Float looks brand new. Needle valve looks perfect. Float needle and clip in good order with no burrs.

It could also be your float setting?

We are going to try that next.

Maybe I should replace the carb with a new kit. I just hate to replace the carb when it looks so good. But then again, I just spent $60.00 on a pump that made no difference. If we replace the carb with a new kit and problem still existed, what would be the next guess?

Update: Problem is finally solved and could have been from the beginning.

I brought the motor to another mechanic who has worked on these motors for over 40 years. He said it had to be a problem with the float adjustment since the other mechanics cleaned it as well as I told him.

Sure enough, he said after opening the carb that in fact the float was set to high.

The motor now runs beautifully!

Thanks to all who helped me, I am really happy now.

I too am glad to hear your back on the water. These motors are built to run. When fixing them you have to be a bit methodical and sometimes a bit lucky but they will run again. Rick.

Motor was awesome today, not even a hiccup. One pull start every time.

i have the exact same motor and the exact same problem, and have done everything that you have, what exactly did the mechanic do to the float to fix the problem, i would very much appreciate it if you could help me out so i can fix mine, i wanna take it out and go fishing already and its holdin me up, lol, so can u please help me out with this.
