Patience is a virtue. You really shouldn't run these motors at all without water circulating through them. It would be a shame to get her fired up and then over heat it :/ An impeller is only about $20 and you can get it right here at iboats.

Grasshopper, pay attention to what your mentor is saying, as it is wise ;) (I don't know if you ever watched Kung Fu on T.V.) Seriously though, wait until you have that motor ready to pump water before you attempt to run it.

The BRP site list motor parts back to 1968 (hence the same story here at i-Boats.) Your 1965 is almost completely the same as a 1968 for parts. The gearcase foot is a little different in appearance on the pre-68 9?, and from what I have been able to find it is shared with the 5?, early 6, 7? & 58-63 10 horse motors. Motor mounts were a bit of an issue on the earliest 9? motors from 1964-65. My dad owned a 1965 version from brand new. Later while his motor was being serviced at the dealer it was retrofitted with a "vibration isolation kit" with revised motor mounts. His ran very smoothly after that.

Thanks, I got the fuel hose replaced today. Also, I will order an impeller and change that out. Is that a fairly easy job on this motor?
