1965 9.5hp lower unit question

I have 1965 9.5hp Model: 9522 C( purchased for repair a project for my son and I). My question is.....will any lower unit from 9.5hp Evinrude/Johnson from the years 1964-1974 fit on my 1965 9.5hp motor?

If you are swapping out the whole thing....yes they are interchangeable. Some of the seal sizes are different though. So you should know the year of your lower end when ordering seals. The Water pump oil seal, and prop shaft oil seal both have a smaller outside diameter than later models....therefore a seal from a later model will split the housings if you try to press them in.....(I know this from experience) I'm not sure what year it changed. I have a 65, and the seals from a 72 were too big. My motor is now a frankenstein with parts from 65,67,71. 95% of the parts are interchangeable....evinrude/johnson as well as model years.
